Could it be back to the drawing board for school plans in Colchester?

Controversial plans for secondary school reorganisation in Colchester - including the closure of Thomas Lord Audley and Alderman Blaxill Schools - could be put back on the drawing board after a top level meeting yesterday evening between Schools Minister Mr Vernon Coaker and Town MP Bob Russell who was accompanied by Monkwick parent Mr Joe Slatter.

Children's fitness will be affected by School's closure

If the closure of Thomas Lord Audley Secondary School at Monkwick goes ahead - with the result that children will have to be driven almost three miles to The Stanway School - this will result in pupils becoming less fit, affecting their quality of life.

Russell criticises rogue landlords

Colchester MP Bob Russell today (Friday) condemned owners of buy-to-rent houses who default on the mortgages leading to their tenants being evicted even though they had paid their rent.

Russell meets Afghan MPs

Colchester MP Bob Russell has had a meeting at the House of Commons with Members of Parliament from Afghanistan who are in the UK for the international conference on Afghanistan which opens tomorrow (Thursday) in London. It is the second time that he has had a meeting with a visiting delegation of Afghan MPs.

Campaign to save Colchester schools from closure continues

Government Ministers are to look into the controversial proposals to shut Colchester's Alderman Blaxill and Thomas Lord Audley secondary schools after Town MP Bob Russell told the House of Commons that claims made by Essex County Council were inaccurate.
