The fall in the number of people killed on Britain's roads - last year they fell to 2,500, the lowest since records began in 1926 - has been welcomed by Colchester MP Bob Russell who is Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Road Safety Group.

Official House of Commons figures show that Colchester MP Bob Russell has claimed the lowest "second home" allowance of any of the 17 Members of Parliament representing Essex constituencies.

Colchester MP Bob Russell broke away from politics and electioneering at the weekend to take part in celebrations to mark the 75th Anniversary of The Morris Ring of England, which was centred on the Essex village of Thaxted which has been the spiritual home of England's traditional male folk dance since the Ring was formed.
