St. John's Road gas works delay

10.54.57am GMT Thu 4th Feb 2010

The work at the Parsons Heath/Harwich Road/ St. John's Road junction has caused immense frustration particularly for those using their car who live in Parsons Heath, Welshwood Park and Roach Vale areas and beyond.

Your local Lib Dem Councillors have been chasing Essex County Council East Area Highways since last Friday

(ECC has a monitoring role as Highway Authority), and continued to field calls from irate residents since.

Essex County Council's Highways Manager responded to me yesterday as follows: "We have investigated the current situation and found that the temporary traffic signals had not been installed to the approved layout and timings - hence the traffic problems. The contractor has been instructed to rectify the situation immediately."

We expect that you as a local resident will have noticed the difference!!

You may also be interested to hear that the contractors have promised ECC to increase resources to reduce the timescale for the work in Parsons Heath that will, hopefully, be finished by Sunday afternoon (7th February). ECC promise to continue to monitor progress, as will your local Lib Dems.
