A House of Commons Motion, in support of The Royal British Legion, tabled by Colchester MP Bob Russell has now been signed by 200 Members of Parliament.

The Motion was tabled by Mr Russell last November after he queued 15 hours through the night in order that it was the first one at the start of the current Parliamentary session which runs until November this year.

The Motion "welcomes The Royal British Legion's campaign calling on the nation and Parliament to honour the Military Covenant; recognises the important role that the organisation plays in the provision of welfare support for serving men and women, veterans and their families; and urges all MPs to pledge their support to the campaign to improve conditions in the areas of healthcare, compensation and support for bereaved families."

Liberal Democrat Mr Russell said that he was delighted that so many MPs, from all political parties, had signed the Motion. Mr Russell is a Parliamentary Advisor to The Royal British Legion. He is a graduate of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme and earlier this year visited troops serving in Afghanistan.
