Bob Russell

Para Tie Support

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 22nd Jul 2008

Colchester MP Bob Russell is showing his support at the House of Commons for soldiers from 16 Air Assault Brigade who are currently serving in Afghanistan.

At today's Prime Minister's Questions, as he has done for the past few weeks, Mr Russell will be wearing the Brigade tie. He has also worn it during Defence Questions - next week will be wearing it again during a Defence debate.

Mr Russell said: "When the Royal Anglians were in Afghanistan last year I wore their regimental tie, and I am delighted that the Colchester Garrison have provided me with a tie to wear to show my support, in Parliament, while soldiers from 16 Air Assault Brigade are serving in Afghanistan."

Earlier this year, through his membership of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme, Mr Russell visited British troops serving in Helmand Province and stayed at Camp Bastion.

He is a member of the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Defence team. He is also a Parliamentary Advisor to The Royal British Legion
