MP Russell chairs Olympics meeting

Colchester MP Bob Russell chaired a meeting at the House of Commons about the importance of promoting walking as a means for people to get to and from the Olympic Games to be held in London in 2012. Guest speakers from the Olympic Delivery Authority were Director of Transport Mr Hugh Sumner and Sustainable Transport Manager Mr Simon Jay. Also present were representatives from Living Streets, the Ramblers, Transport for London and Natural England.

The meeting was organised by the All-Party Parliamentary Urban Walking Group of which Mr Russell is the Chairman. He is also a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Olympics Group.
